WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 9, 2026) - The baseball team wrapped up their regular season in impressive fashion, needing only eight innings to dispatch Palm Beach Atlantic by a score of 11-1 on Saturday. The win moves the Tars to 34-14, 22-8 SSC while the Sailfish end their year with a record of 11-38, 5-25 SSC.
After two scoreless frames, the offense got going in the third inning. An error and a sac bunt had
Stephen Deans in scoring position, followed by walks to
Joey Rubin and
Collin Hughes to load the bases.
Michael Furry delivered a sac fly for the first run, followed by a
Connor O'Sullivan two-run single, and a
Mason Elrod RBI double to make it 4-0.
Palm Beach Atlantic added one in the third, but that would do it for their offense.
Rollins got going again in the fifth. After a single from Hughes and a double from Furry, O'Sullivan came through once more with a groundout that sent Hughes home. Elrod followed suit with the same result to plate Furry, making it 6-1.
Jimmy Thies was a small ball specialist in the sixth. He led off with a single through the left side, stole second, stole third, and then touched home on a groundout from Deans.
After a rare scoreless effort from the Tars in the seventh, they went back to work in the eighth. With two outs, Rubin walked and stole second. Hughes followed with a walk, and then Furry was hit by a pitch to load the bases. O'Sullivan took advantage of the situation, clearing the bases with a double to the right center gap. Rollins got one more run when an error by the third baseman allowed O'Sullivan to score.
AJ Seymour threw a clean eighth to wrap up the run-rule win.
The top five hitters in the lineup went a combined 8-18 with nine runs and nine RBI. O'Sullivan set a season-high with six driven in. Hughes was 2-3 with two walks, moving his season average to .405 and his OBP to .521.
The Tars pitchign staff was phenomenal in this one.
Brody Meyers earned the win with his predetermined three innings, scattering three hits and allowing one run.
Tyler Toro had two scoreless frames with three strikeouts.
Ryan Taylor, Mattthew Demetree, and
AJ Seymour each had shutout frames as well.
Rollins' 34 wins matches the amount they had in 2023 when they made a run to Cary, North Carolina for the National Championship tournament.
The Tars await their fate with the NCAA selection show, which will take place on NCAA.com on Sunday, May 10 around 9:00 pm.
