ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Rollins wrapped up its 2026 season this weekend at the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship. The national regatta featured 420s raced in a two-division scoring format.
Friday opened with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s. Racing began in a northeast breeze around 8–10 knots before unstable midday conditions forced a brief postponement. A steadier northwest breeze between 13–18 knots filled in later in the afternoon, allowing the fleets to complete six races in each division.
Saturday closed out the regatta with four more races per division. The day began in lighter 6–8 knot breeze before another brief pause as conditions shifted. Racing resumed in steadier 7–10 knot conditions to wrap up the semifinal.
The Tars finished 14th in their semifinal with 220 total points (148 in A Division, 72 in B).
In A Division,
Julia Scott (skipper) and
Soleil Aurignac (crew) opened the regatta together for the first six races, recording two top-10 finishes. Day two featured lineup rotations for Rollins, with
Shay Bridge (skipper) and
Margaret Burnham (crew) competing in races seven and eight before
Katherine Hamner (skipper) and
Mollie Wood (crew) closed out the final two races of the event.
In B Division,
Annie Samis (skipper) and
Adelaide Matzky (crew) remained paired throughout the championship. The duo recorded top-10 finishes in eight of their 10 races, including four top-five results. Their weekend was highlighted by a race win in Friday's fifth race.
The national championship appearance capped off another strong season for the Tars.
Following the season, Rollins Director of the Boathouse
Dave Herbster will retire from Rollins College. Herbster has played a major role in the growth and success of Rollins sailing, serving both as head coach and in continued leadership roles within the program.
