WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 26, 2026) - Rollins and Eckerd each earned a win during Sunday's doubleheader, with the Tritons taking game one 9-1 and the Tars winning an extra-inning thriller, 7-6. Rollins now stands at 27-15, 15-12 SSC while the Tritons sit at 31-9, 19-5 SSC.
Game One
Eckerd 9, Rollins 1
6 Innings
Eckerd controlled the first game which had a bright and early start time of 10:00 am. They scored two runs in the third on a Faith Wharton home run, and added four more in the fourth on a Hannah Taylor longball and a Wharton RBI single. They added another in the fifth and two more in the sixth to go up 9-0.
Rollins avoided the shutout when
Cambrie Todd ripped a two-out single that brought in
Daylin Hejtmanek, but the game would end at 9-1.
Game Two
Rollins 7, Eckerd 6
8 Innings
The Tritons went to work early in game two when Taylor launched a two-run blast over the scoreboard in the top of the first. However,
Reese Twiggs stranded two runners in scoring position and escaped further damage. In the bottom half, Hejtmanek and Bri Perantoni each singled and advanced on a double steal.
Madi Carr and
Brooke Theisen did their jobs with back-to-back singles, tying the game at two all.
Rollins never really threatened for the next five innings, while the Tritons steadily added to their lead in the third, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. Down to their final three outs, the Tars put together an incredible rally that all started with a pinch-hit leadoff double from
Chloe Bauer. Two pitches later,
Alondra Maldonado-Ortiz ripped a double to left to score Bauer. The next two batters were put out, giving Rollins just one last chance.
Rachel Matthiesen, also pinch-hitting, sent a 2-1 fastball well over the wall in left to make the score 6-5, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. But the Tars weren't done.
Madi Carr was up next, and on an 0-1 pitch, she deposited an offering from Brandilyn Reymer over the wall in center to tie the game. The roar from the home crowd could be heard up and down 17/92, silencing the once incredibly loud, and perhaps overly confident, Eckerd dugout.
Eckerd led off the eighth inning with a double, but a smart play from Maldonado-Ortiz at short put the runner out on a fielder's choice. With new confidence, Twiggs induced two groundouts to escape the inning.
In the bottom half, the home team magic was in full effect.
Kaeli Zahradnik walked, and moved to second on a bunt single from
Claire Long. With one out, a double steal put both runners in scoring position. With the infield drawn in, Hejtmanek came through, smoking a single up the middle to bring in Zahradnik, ending the game at 7-6.
Hejtmanek led the offense with three hits, while Perantoni, Carr, and Theisen each had two knocks each. Twiggs earned the hard-fought win with a final line of eight innings, twelev hits, five earned runs, one walk, and no strikeouts.
The Tars will have a week off before returning to the diamond one last time for the regular season finale against Palm Beach Atlantic. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm on Friday, May 8.
