WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 2, 2026) - The offense was clicking for the Tars on Thursday as they hit their way to an 8-5 win over Florida Tech. The Tars move to 21-9 on the year with a 12-4 record in the SSC, while the Panthers drop to 15-17, 6-10 SSC.
Noah Greenseid put the Panthers down in order in the first two innings, including a pair of strikeouts in the first. In the bottom of the second, with two on and two out, catcher
Stephen Deans ripped a single to the right field gap to plate
Jayden Brown and
Connor O'Sullivan, giving the Tars a 2-0 lead.
Greenseid then pitched around two baserunners in the third, and received some more support in the home half.
Michael Furry singled with one out, and was brought in two batters later on a
Connor O'Sullivan swing that was hit so hard off the right field wall, he could only manage a single. The next batter was
Jimmy Thies, who obliterated a 3-1 fastball over the left field fence for a three-run shot, making it 6-0.
Tech managed to scrape together a run in the fourth with a two-out double, but the Tars had the immediate answer yet again. With one gone,
Joey Rubin singled, stole second, and was brought in on a
Collin Hughes knock. Two batters later,
Matthew Mateo ripped a single to right that scored Hughes, making it 8-1.
The next few innings featured a whole bunch of outs on both sides. Greenseid would bow out of the contest after seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts.
Mark Loubier pitched a clean eighth, but ran into a spot of trouble in the ninth when he allowed a three-run home run to make the final of 8-5.
AJ Seymour was called on to stop the rally, and he did just that with a strikeout looking, giving him his third save of the season.
Rollins collected eleven hits in the game from eight different players. O'Sullivan scored twice, while Thies drove in three and Deans had two hits and two driven in.
The two teams will meet up again on Friday with a doubleheader starting at noon from Alfond Stadium.
