LAKELAND, Fla. (April 18, 2026) – Rollins men's lacrosse came up just short in the opening round of the SSC Tournament on Saturday, falling to Florida Southern, 11-10, in a last-second decision.
Both teams opened with a handful of empty possessions before Florida Southern broke through with the game's first goal. The Tars responded quickly, as
Zachary Blinkoff netted an unassisted tally before
Chad Bulera followed with a goal to give Rollins its first lead of the day. The Mocs answered with back-to-back scores to regain the advantage, but
Sean Caracciolo set up Jack McCallum for the equalizer, sending the game into the second quarter tied at 3-3.
After another stretch of scoreless play to begin the second,
Logan McHugh broke the drought with an unassisted finish to put Rollins ahead. Florida Southern answered once again to even the score, but McHugh struck for his second of the quarter to restore the Tars' lead. The Mocs responded late in the half, and the teams headed into the break knotted at 5-5.
Defense took over to start the third, with neither side finding the net for the opening eight minutes.
Logan Myers eventually broke through, giving Rollins a 6-5 edge. The Tars built on that momentum shortly after, as McHugh found
Dominick Devito to push the lead to two. Florida Southern answered in the closing minutes of the quarter with a pair of goals, tying the game once again at 7-7 heading into the fourth.
The Mocs opened the final frame with a goal to take the lead before Jack Woynarski forced a turnover on the ensuing possession. McHugh quickly connected with Myers to even the score at 8-8. Florida Southern responded with two straight goals to take a 10-8 advantage, but Rollins continued to fight. Following a faceoff win from
Malakai Au and a ground ball by Woynarski, Myers set up Bulera to cut the deficit to one. The Tars forced another turnover late, and
Aaron Williams delivered the equalizer with under 90 seconds remaining to tie the game at 10-10.
Florida Southern won the ensuing faceoff and capitalized, scoring with just two seconds left to reclaim the lead. A late penalty gave Rollins one final opportunity, but the Tars' last-second shot was blocked, sealing the 11-10 result for the Mocs.
Bulera, Myers, and McHugh each recorded two goals, with McHugh leading the team in points by adding two assists while also making an impact defensively with two caused turnovers. Metz was a key contributor as well, collecting five ground balls. In goal,
Nick Catino and
Colin Selters split time, combining for 11 saves.
