WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 16, 2026) – On a day to honor two outstanding seniors before the match, the Tars put together an impassioned performance once things got underway. Rollins cruised en route to a 7-0 sweep of the Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida, nabbing their thirteenth win of the season, tied for a program best since 2014.
Approaching the Tennis & Golf Center this afternoon one could smell freshly cut grass, sense a palpable buzz in the wake of yesterday's Fox Day Holiday, and receive a whiff of aroma from flowers in full bloom on one of the nation's most beautiful college campuses.
Moments later, upon arriving to the complex, a wave of sentiments might overtake any onlooker. Today was a special day as it marked the celebration of a pair of seniors. Seniors who have left a more tangible impact on the program than any picturesque Spring Day ever could. And seniors whose value to the program far exceeds any win on the court.
Emotional pre match festivities highlighting
Sydney Eckstein and
Milla Falster launched the finale of the Tars regular season, a campaign book ended by sweeps. Today's 7-0 affair got started courtesy of doubles wins by
Alyssa Novoa and
Lorin Tilipman on the top court, while
Amina Abdulloeva and
Annie Sallick finished the job from line three. Meanwhile, spectators up in the Hutnick-Kaiser Balcony cheered on Eckstein and Falster from the nearest East Side surface. In true fashion, the pair battled until the end.
The inspired performance continued into singles play, where Sallick got things rolling with a dominant, 6-0, 6-0 victory. The straight set masterpiece is the finest performance the native of our nation's capital has put together in her three seasons in Winter Park. Given that Sallick did not surrender a game, this one might be hard to top, too! The junior, who is always so encouraging to her teammates received the result she deserved with her outing Thursday.
A few courts down,
Nisan Can scripted another convincing win in her own right. Can, who has been a part of wins from each of the top three lines for the Tars this season, only managed to concede one game on the way to her straight set victory.
Elsewhere from the top of the lineup,
Alyssa Novoa came ready to play. Fresh off a win over the nation's number one singles player and another weekly ranking planted within the top five of solo action, the Apopka native left nothing up to chance. Her 6-1, 6-1 ride to the winner's circle officially supplanted Rollins on top for the day.
The only thing left to do was to ensure one final home win for a senior.
Sydney Eckstein took care of that assignment without a problem. Down on the far side of the complex's West end, Eckstein put on a Senior Day Show, yielding just one game before taking the match in straight set variety. Behind the ovations of family visiting all the way from her home country of Indonesia, the Rollins leader gave her supporters lots to cheer about.
Lines three and four were handled by sophomores
Lorin Tilipman and
Amina Abdulloeva respectively. Both played exciting matches with Abdulloeva displaying resolve after a narrow 7-5 result in the opening set. The fourth liner hurried out to a 6-1 win before boosting Tilipman to a 10-6 tiebreak win to conclude today's events.
Before turning the page to the conference tournament, head coach
Tasi Purcell Batista had this to say, "Today was a beautiful day to honor both of our seniors. Sydney and Milla have represented this program with passion, grace, and joy, and their dedication has meant the world to us."
She continued, "Everyone who knows them is truly fortunate. I am incredibly proud of them, and they will be deeply missed."
The journey is not over for Eckstein nor Falster as the seniors will lead the charge into SSC postseason action. Next week bracket style play will begin from the tennis complex of Nova Southeastern. Stay tuned to
