Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Tars Uproot Mighty Banyans

Rollins got the better of New College of Florida 4-0 Thursday afternoon to improve to 16-2 on the season.

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 16, 2026) – Seeking to continue their winning ways, Rollins left no doubt Thursday afternoon, sweeping New College of Florida in short order. The match, being played under the clinching format, was decided 4-0 in favor of the Tars within 100 minutes of when match play began. That clip marks the shortest match of the season.

Blink and you'd miss it. Rollins captured their fourth straight and ninth out of their last ten, beginning the blitz in doubles action. First, it was Lawson Prather and Nico de Giacomo who steadied out in front without a blemish. The victory runs this week's game total up to 12-1 in favor of the court three combination – their best stretch of the season as comrades. Elsewhere, it was Fabian Gusic and Mo Anterist getting the job done. The pair has been rock solid all season from the middle, and today was no different.

The two wins were all the Tars needed to capture the early advantage, and after a brief intermission, there was no sign of letting up.

Mo Anterist did not waste any time from the fourth line. The sophomore, heading back to the stripe where he started the season, did not skip a beat. An impressive 6-1 first set was remarkably topped in the match clincher, as the Germany native went 6-0 to follow.

Fellow second year man Pietro Cappellaro increased the Rollins lead from one court over. The Italian stallion raced past his opponent from line six, authoring up yet another straight set chapter for his 2026 campaign. Sweeps have been the story for Cappellaro, who came ready to play and had a 6-1, 6-3 winner to show for it. All the sophomore's wins this season have been in the minimum.

With one match left to decide things, Lawson Prather capitalized on the opportunity and added his second win of the week in the form of a 6-2, 6-3 performance. On Monday, it was Prather's grit that helped him past a formidable conference foe from the West side's main event in a three-set marvel. Today, the nation's seventh ranked singles player was swift, ending his and the overall match in one fell swoop.

Elsewhere, seniors Fabian Gusic and Richard Stoiberer owned leads in their second sets of play. Pete Tran was also amid his subsequent round after grinding out a 7-5 winner in his initial offering.

Only two matches precede the Tars from a road trip down to Boca Raton for the conference tournament. First, it will be Ave Maria stopping by the beautiful Tennis & Golf Center for a Friday matinee. Action begins tomorrow at 2pm.

In the week to follow, the Tars remain home as the program honors three men who have devoted countless hours of their time, talent and energy to the program. Senior Day Festivities will feature Gusic, Stoiberer and the heart and soul of Rollins College himself, Mr. Eltavious Johnson on Friday, April 24th.
