WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 13, 2026) – Rollins raced past Lynn Monday afternoon to improve to 15-2 on the season. The convincing 6-1 victory positions the Tars squarely in the top three of the SSC, a tall task within a conference loaded with talent.
The home team wasn't shy about displaying their talent Monday, getting things going in a hurry with a sweep across all doubles courts. First it was the combination of
Lawson Prather and
Nico de Giacomo establishing the tone with a sound 6-1 victory.
Mo Anterist and
Fabian Gusic soon matched their pitch with the same score themselves from the middle court. Finally, it was the stout pair of
Richard Stoiberer and
Pete Tran getting the better of their contemporaries on court one. The showdown that featured two top fifteen doubles teams ultimately went the way of the home side's sophomore and senior, 6-3.
The doubles sweep labeled the second consecutive year that the Tars have come out ahead on all three courts. Prior to that, Rollins had not swept the doubles point over Lynn since 2010.
From there, the tide kept the Rollins boat rolling. First, it was Gusic whose masterful Monday did not stop with a doubles victory. A 6-4, 6-1 singles win added to the senior's total, who capped his home conference career slate with a bang. The Celle, Germany native ends his SSC regular season campaign with an unblemished record in Winter Park.
Fellow senior Richie Stoiberer joined in on the fun from court four. Playing right beside Gusic, the veteran mirrored his teammate with a straight set win, 7-5, 6-4. The savvy leader inched Rollins ever more closer to sweet victory, something that
Pete Tran would ensure all his teammates would taste moments later.
After Lynn got on the board from line three, Tran answered the question of who would decide the match courtesy of a 6-2, 6-4 winner. The local area product continues to be nails from the familiar confines of home. Tran, like Gusic is riding an unbeaten streak at the Tennis and Golf Center this season.
With the match in the hands of the Tars,
Mo Anterist added to the total from line five with a resilient win. Nabbing the first set, 6-3, the sophomore was stung with the same score in the opposite direction in the set to follow. Yet, showing no signs of tire, Anterist bounced back, once again drumming up a 6-3 total. This time, it sealed the match.
Lawson Prather equaled with a third set decider from the headline court. Prather dominated the opener, going 6-0 to snag an early lead. Despite dropping the second at the hands of a tiebreak, the freshman didn't fold, showing his grit as he has done all season with a 6-3 result and match victory.
All the ingredients combined for a recipe that tested out as a 6-1 win. Afterwards, Head Coach
Jay Friedman had this to share with an inquiring reporter:
"Solid outcome for us today. Really happy to see how we stay disciplined in the big moments and either took control or took control enough to force an error."
Continuing, Friedman remarked, "Really nice for us to see that and obviously some great doubles play after a couple days of focus on that."
The practice helped, and so too did the support of those in the crowd this afternoon. Members of the Rollins College Student Government Association were on hand to cheer on their classmates while the student-athletes were joined by members of faculty and staff who assisted with the coin toss to launch singles play. The Rollins Athletic Department would like to thank the following campus partners for their help in the festivities today, as well as their commitment to the betterment of our student-athletes off the court.
