MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (April 11, 2026) - Baseball captured their second win of the series against Barry, and fifth straight overall, with a 6-2 triumph on Saturday. The Tars now stand at 25-9, 16-4 SSC while the Buccaneers fall to 19-18, 6-13 SSC.
The Tars got right to business in the top of the first with a two-out rally. Following a
Michael Furry walk and a
Connor O'Sullivan single,
Jayden Brown drove in Furry with a base hit up the middle. Next up was
Matthew Mateo, who ripped a single to center, plating both O'Sullivan and Brown to make it 3-0.
Barry got one run back in the third on a pair of hits and an error from the Tars. Rollins had the immediate answer in the fourth, though. Brown walked to lead off the inning, stole second base, and then moved to third on a wild pitch. He was promptly brought home when Stephe Deans ripped a single through the left side of the infield to make it a 4-1 game.
Rollins added two more runs in the fifth, again rallying with two outs. Furry singled, and came around to score when a ball hit to left from O'Sullivan was misplayed. Brown followed with a rip up the middle on the next pitch to plate O'Sullivan, making it a 6-1 ballgame.
Brett Dennis cruised through the fifth and sixth innings, but gave one run back in the seventh when LeeAnthony Santiago singled home Brandon Delaphena to make it 6-2. Dennis avoided further damage by inducing a double play to the next batter, wrapping up his night with a line of seven innings, eight hits, two runs, no walks, and six strikeouts.
Coby Vallee replaced Dennis in the eighth, and ran into some trouble with the bases loaded and one out. However, he buckled down and worked a strikeout and a popout fo first to quell the threat. He also stranded two runners on base in the ninth, ending the game with a strikeout looking.
Dennis earned his fifth win of the season with his quality start. Brown led the offense with two hits, two runs, and two RBI.
The two teams will meet one more time on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1pm. This time change was made known to the Rollins staff before the game on Saturday with less than 24 hours notice. Very cool.
