YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. (March 8, 2026) – No. 16 Rollins women's lacrosse continued its dominant weekend in Georgia, defeating Young Harris 19-13 on Sunday afternoon.
Twelve Tars recorded points in the contest, with 10 finding the back of the cage.
Delanie Abere led the offensive effort with four goals and two assists while adding three ground balls.
Molly Mendes also scored four goals in the victory, while
Delaney Hudson recorded a hat trick.
Tess Hovivian added a multi-goal performance for her second straight game.
Holyn Trautwein controlled the draw circle throughout the afternoon, collecting 15 draw controls, her second-most as a Tar and a mark that places her inside the top 10 in Sunshine State Conference record books. Defensively,
Grayson Crowe led the Tars in caused turnovers. In goal,
Alyssa Lentz earned the win while sharing time with
Angelina Vitale and
Anya Studebaker, with all three goalkeepers recording at least one save.
Young Harris struck first, scoring twice in the opening minutes to take the early lead. After several empty possessions, Mendes broke through with a woman-down goal to cut the deficit to one. The Mountain Lions answered, but Hovivian finished a pass from
Sydney Nickel to keep Rollins within reach. Young Harris then used a run of draw control wins to score three consecutive goals, forcing a Rollins timeout. After another Mountain Lion tally extended the lead, Abere responded with a woman-up goal to slow the momentum. Hovivian added her second of the quarter off a
Carsyn Christel assist as Young Harris carried a 7-4 lead into the second.
Rollins began its comeback in the second quarter.
Chloe Pierini converted a free-position opportunity to open the frame, and after Trautwein controlled the draw, Mendes scored on another free-position attempt to pull the Tars within one. Young Harris answered briefly, but
Kali Gagnon responded to keep the deficit narrow. Abere then tied the game midway through the quarter on a feed from
Katie Bell. The Mountain Lions reclaimed the lead with two goals, but Abere completed her hat trick just before halftime on a pass from
Allegra Ryan, sending Rollins into the break trailing by just one.
Rollins seized control early in the third quarter. Hudson scored the equalizer less than a minute into the half off a Trautwein assist, and after another draw control by Trautwein, Mendes converted a free-position goal to give the Tars their first lead of the afternoon. Trautwein continued to dominate the draw circle, setting up another Rollins possession that led to Christel finishing a pass from Pierini. Abere then added her fourth goal of the day, scoring unassisted while the Tars were woman-down to extend the lead to three. Young Harris briefly answered, but Mendes netted her fourth goal on a woman-up opportunity off Abere's assist. The teams traded possessions late in the quarter before Bell connected with
Fiona Rizzo to push the Rollins lead to 15-12 entering the final frame.
Rollins continued to pull away in the fourth. Hudson and Nickel scored early in the quarter, with Hovivian assisting on Nickel's strike. Hudson added another goal off a Rizzo feed to stretch the lead to six with just over 10 minutes remaining. Young Harris managed one late goal, but Rizzo closed the scoring on an assist from Abere as the Tars secured the 19-13 victory.
Rollins improves to 7-1 on the season and returns home Thursday, March 12, hosting Grand Valley State at 7:30 p.m. at Cahall-Sandspur Field.
