Tars Cruise Past Lynn in Five-Inning Victory

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Rollins softball opened its series against Lynn with a 9-0 run-rule victory in five innings on Friday afternoon.

The Tars wasted no time getting on the board in the first. Kaeli Zahradnik drew a walk and worked her way to third before Cambrie Todd delivered an RBI single to right field for the early 1-0 lead.

Rollins built on that momentum in the second. Brooke Theisen led off with a triple, and Jenna Borkey reached on a fielding error. A wild pitch brought Theisen home and moved Borkey into scoring position. Claire Long followed with a single up the middle to plate Borkey and extend the lead.

Brianna Perantoni added another base hit to put two on, and a double steal moved both runners into scoring position. Rachel Matthiesen came through with a two-RBI double to center, pushing the advantage to 5-0.

The offense kept rolling in the third. Madi Carr opened the inning with a triple, and Theisen followed with an RBI single to bring her home. A pair of bunts moved Theisen to third, and Perantoni drove her in to extend the lead. Rollins loaded the bases later in the inning, and Matthiesen delivered again with a single to score two and make it 9-0.

The Tars threatened once more with hits from Daylin Hejtmanek and Jaelyn Joiner but left both runners stranded. Chloe Bauer added a hit in the fifth, but no further runs crossed.

Rollins' defense remained strong throughout, keeping the Fighting Knights off the board to secure the shutout victory.

Reese Twiggs earned the win in the circle, retiring 15 of the 18 batters she faced.

Rollins improves to 18-10 overall (5-7 SSC) and will return to action Saturday, March 28, for a 12 p.m. / 2 p.m. doubleheader to conclude the series.
