Second Half Surge Leads Bucs Past Tars

Barry defeated Rollins 95-84 on Wednesday night

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 18, 2026) - A second-half surge from Barry proved too much for Rollins to overcome as they suffered a 95-84 loss at home on Wednesday. The loss drops the Tars to 13-13, 7-11 SSC on the year. The Buccaneers improve to 14-11, 9-8 SSC.

Despite four quick points from Jah Nze to open the scoring, Rollins found themselves down 12-6 at the first media timeout. Coming out of the break, Omar Figueroa scored five quick ones to have the Tars right back in the game. A moment later, a free throw from Matus Malovec had the game tied at 14.

Barry maintained a lead for most of the half, but the Tars were hanging tough. Around the five-minute mark, an Nze three tied the game at 30, followed by a Figueroa layup that gave them their first lead since the first points of the game.

The Rollins offense then got hot to wrap up the half, scoring 14 points in the final four minutes. Marshall Klug delivered a three-point play, followed by an Nze jumper, and a Figueroa triple to put Rollins up 49-44 at the break.

The second half began in the worst way for Rollins as Barry scored the first seven points to reclaim the lead. Though Nze converted a layup to tie the game at 51, the Bucs answered with a layup of their own, and would not give up the lead for the rest of the game.

Nze was the only Tar to score in the second half until Mayson Quartlebaum converted in the paint at the 12:21 mark. From there, it was almost three minutes until Rollins found the scoreboard again. By that time, Barry had established a comfortable lead, and did not give it up for the rest of the game.

A slew of free throws in the final few minutes led to the inflated score of 95-84.

Nze led the Tars in points with 27, tied for the team lead in rebounds with five, and had the most assists with three. Figueroa added twenty points, knocking down four threes in the game. The Tars shot well from the field (34-67, 51%), but managed only seven makes on 26 three-point attempts (27%). Meanwhile, Barry shot 60% from the floor for the game, knocking down 28-47 shots.

Rollins will wrap up their home slate on Saturday, February 21 when they host Palm Beach Atlantic. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm from Warden Arena. Prior to the game, six graduating players will be honored: Quartlebaum, Nze, Figueroa, Caleb Samuel, Michael Kalina, and Ricky Ghedini
