Rollins Comes Up Just Short Against No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 14, 2026) – Rollins men's lacrosse battled back multiple times on Saturday afternoon, but a late overtime goal lifted No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne to a 13–12 win.
Lenoir-Rhyne struck first just under a minute into the contest, but the Tars answered on the man-up as Conor Sweeney converted to even the score at 1–1. Both defenses settled in for the remainder of the opening quarter, with Nick Catino making several early saves to keep things level heading into the second.

The Bears opened the second with another early goal before Rollins found its rhythm. Logan McHugh ignited a surge with an unassisted tally, and Aaron Williams followed with a goal of his own. Moments later, McHugh capitalized on an extra-man opportunity off a feed from Logan Myers to give Rollins its first two-goal lead of the afternoon. Nate Paulo and McHugh added back-to-back goals as the Tars built a 6–3 advantage. Lenoir-Rhyne responded late in the frame, including a man-up score, as the Bears trimmed the deficit to 6–5 at halftime.

The third quarter turned into a back-and-forth battle. After the Bears tied the game at six, Myers restored the Rollins lead. Paulo and William Kubie each found the net  off feeds from Conor Sweeney during a three-goal stretch that pushed the Tars ahead 9–7. However, Lenoir-Rhyne answered with three straight of its own to close the period, taking a narrow 10–9 lead into the fourth.

Rollins refused to fade in the final 15 minutes. Paulo netted his third of the day to knot things at 10, and Zachary Blinkoff later answered to tie the game again at 11. After the Bears regained the edge, McHugh delivered once more with just over five minutes remaining to level the score at 12–12. Both teams generated late opportunities, but strong defensive stands and key saves sent the contest into overtime.

In the extra period, Lenoir-Rhyne won the opening faceoff and capitalized, finding the game-winner at the 3:38 mark to secure the 13–12 result.

McHugh led the Tars with four goals, while Paulo added three. Sweeney paced the offense with four points on a goal and three assists, and Rollins outshot the Bears 45–36 while holding a 25–23 edge in ground balls.

Rollins moves to 1-2 on the season and will look to regroup as it prepares for its next matchup at Flagler on February 27 at 7 p.m. in St. Augustine.
