Tars Earn Draw Versus #11 Mocs

Rollins and Florida Southern tied 1-1 on Saturday

WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 3, 2026) - Men's soccer earned a hard-fought draw against the #11 Florida Southern Mocs on Saturday evening in front of the home crowd at Cahall-Sandspur Field. The Tars now stand at 4-3-2, 2-2-1 SSC while the Mocs move to 9-1-1, 4-0-1 SSC.

A physical start between the two rivals saw a number of fouls whistled against the Tars. In the first twenty minutes, Rollins was the only team to manage a pair of shots, but both were off target.

Florida Southern recorded the first shot on goal in the 24th minute, but it was saved by Kilian Vallant. However, off the ensuing corner kick, the Mocs found the net when Tim Baierlein beat Vallant with a quick strike.

A wave of subs from coach Keith Buckley helped Rollins put pressure on the Southern defense, but nothing officially came of it as the two teams headed to halftime with the Mocs up 1-0.

Florida Southern was ultra-aggressive to start the second half, earning five corner kicks in the first 15 minutes. The Tar defense was stout, however, thwarting each set piece.

Rollins finally found their opportunity in the 69th minute. After a crisp array of passing around midfield, Tolu Junaid found himself about 35 yards from the goal on the right sideline. A magnificent display of dribbling from the sophomore had his defender on skates, allowing Junaid to blow past and rip a screamer to the far side of the net to equalize the match.

Each team had a pair of shots on goal in the final twenty minutes, but all attempts were saved by the keepers, leading to a 1-1 draw.

The Tars only managed three shots on goal in the game, with two coming from Finlay Prain. Rollins was whistled for 17 fouls and four yellow cards in the game, while Southern was only assessed seven fouls and two yellows.

Next up for the Tars is a Saturday road trip to Miami Shores to take on the Barry Bucs on October 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
