GROVELAND, Fla. (September 20, 2025) - The waterski team saw their first action of the fall on Saturday at Jack Travers Ski School in Groveland as they faced off against Florida Southern in the annual matchup between the two SSC foes.

The story of the day came from slalom where
Charlie Ross set a new collegiate record by running one buoy at 43 off rope. The previous record for a collegiate event was 3.5 buoys at 41 off set by Will Asher more than twenty years ago. Ross, who claimed silver at the World Championships in August, was one of three Tars to claim the top spots in the event.
Kamil Belmrah was impressive in his run, clearing five buoys at 39.5, while
Jaime Palomino skied a half at 39.5.
In men's tricks, Pablo Font helped the Tars secure their second win of the day, with a run of 4,670, which was more than 1200 points higher than Florida Southern's George Malinovski, who finished second.
Patrick Payne took third place for Rollins with a pass of 2300.
Payne was also the top jumper for Rollins, finishing fifth overall with a distance of 121 feet.
On the women's side,
Hannah Stopnicki showcased her world-class talent with a dominant performance in tricks, posting a score of 4,390. She more than doubled up her teammate
Elsa Bergsgard, who took second with 2,140.
For women's slalom,
Martina Font was the top Tar, taking fourth with 1.5 buoys at 32 off. Font also took fifth in tricks and fifth in jump. Bergsgard also claimed a top-five finish with four buoys at 22 off.
