Tars Wrap Up in Alaska with Close Four Setter Against CSUSB

Fairbanks, Alaska – Rollins closed out its trip to Alaska on Saturday, falling to California State University, San Bernardino in four sets (23-25, 25-21, 16-25, 23-25).

The opening set followed the tournament's theme of close play, with the two sides trading points until late attack errors cost the Tars, giving the Coyotes the edge. Rollins answered in set two, capitalizing on CSUSB miscues down the stretch to pull even at a set apiece. The Coyotes raced out early in the third and held control throughout, forcing the Tars to play from behind and reclaiming the match lead. Rollins showed fight in the fourth, erasing a late deficit to tie things at 20-20 and even briefly retake the lead, but a string of kills and attack errors swung the momentum back to CSUSB, who closed out the match.

Cameron Grange and Rylee Yarborough paced the Rollins offense with double-digit kill efforts. In the middle, Vivian Scuteri built on her strong weekend with six total blocks. Libero Sarah Seabrooke anchored the defense, collecting a season-high 29 digs, while Jenna Garza directed the attack with a 30-assist performance.

The Tars move to 6-2 on the season and now turn their focus to the Concord Classic in Athens, West Virginia. Rollins opens the tournament on Friday, September 19, at 11 a.m. against Winston-Salem State before a 5 p.m. matchup with Davis & Elkins later that day.
