WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 24, 2025) – The Rollins College men's tennis squad cruised to their second consecutive victory, defeating Palm Beach Atlantic 6-1 on Saturday.
All three doubles duos seized control of their matches, helping Rollins grab the doubles point and jump out to an early lead. It was
Luke Quaynor and
Richard Stoiberer who took a commanding 6-2 win in doubles number one, while
Nico de Giacomo and
Fabian Gusic won by the same score on court two.
Mo Anterist and
Pietro Cappellaro completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory of their own on court three.
Onto the singles matches where
Luke Quaynor prevailed on court one with a dramatic 7-6, 6-7, 10-6 tiebreaking victory to give Rollins a win.
Fabian Gusic also followed up his doubles victory with a 7-5, 6-1 victory on court three.
Mo Anterist was uncontested in his singles number four match. The freshman did not drop a game, dominating 6-0, 6-0 on court four. The story was similar for
Richard Stoiberer, who dropped just one game in his match, taking a 6-1, 6-0 victory back to Winter Park. Finally,
Pietro Cappellaro took home his second consecutive victory with a 6-1, 6-2 effort.
The five singles wins, plus the doubles point equaled a 6-1 conference road win for the Tars. Head coach
Jay Friedman was pleased with his teams's effort on Saturday:
"Quite a windy day today down in West Palm Beach," said Friedman. "We did a great job of managing that and coming out aggressive in the doubles. I was really happy to see Luke moving well and finishing out his match well. Looking forward to tomorrow.
The squad will have their hands full tomorrow, staying on the road to face #2 Barry in Miami Shores. But coming off of two consecutive wins, the men will carry some momentum into the match, which is set to begin at 2pm.
