Tars Score Season-High in Series Opener

Rollins defeated Lynn 20-6 on Friday afternoon

BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 21, 2025) - Baseball opened their SSC road series at Lynn with a statement win, blowing out the Fighting Knights 20-6. The victory moves Rollins to 19-6 on the year with a 9-1 mark in SSC play. Lynn drops to 15-11, 4-6 SSC.

The first two innings saw zero runs scored, thanks in part to a nice relay from Rob Buckley to Jimmy Thies to Mason Wilson, gunning down a runner trying to score in the second.

Rollins carried the momentum into the third inning, scoring four runs on three hits. Wilson drew a bases loaded walk to start things off, and then Chris Sparber cleared the bases with a double, but was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple.

After starter Tyler Toro sat the Knights down in order in the third, the Tars blew the game open in the top of the fourth with seven runs. Buckley, Joey Rubin, and Sparber all went deep in the inning as Rollins took advantage of the smaller dimensions of the Knight's home field.

The Tars added two more runs in the fifth thanks to a sac fly from Dalton Pyzrer and a Sparber RBI base knock to make the score 13-0. In the sixth, the lead extended to 15-love following another RBI from Rubin and a single off the bat off Jeslyn Whitehead

Lynn avoided the shutout with a four-run effort in the sixth, touching Toro up to the tune of three doubles, a single, and a walk.

The offensive barrage continued one inning later for Rollins when Anegelo Ramirez singled through the right side to plate Buckley, and Michael Furry launched his third home run of the week to score two more.

Rollins then wrapped things up with two more runs in the ninth as Furry and Rubin each singled once more.

The Tars had 22 hits in the game. Every starting position player reached base at least twice and scored at least once. Eight Tars had multiple hits in the game. Rubin had four hits, three runs, and five RBI, while Sparber added three hits and six batted in.

These two teams will be back at it on Saturday for game two of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
