ORLANDO, Fla. (March 20, 2025) - Rollins women's tennis met a tough challenge Thursday when top-five ranked and conference foe Embry Riddle came to town. The Tars dropped the match 5-2, battling windy conditions all afternoon. The loss ended their six-game winning streak against non-Division I opponents.
Â
Embry Riddle nabbed the doubles point winning all three doubles matches. Rollins' duo of
Nancy Liu and
Amina Taibi battled hard on doubles court one, dropping a contested match 7-6 in a tiebreaker.
Â
Liu quickly bounced back on singles court one, however. After falling 6-4 in the first set, the sophomore responded, winning sets two and three, 6-3, 6-2. Her doubles counterpart,
Amina Taibi, again fought valiantly, but fell short 7-6, 2-6, 6-10 on singles court two.
Â
Milla Falster picked up the other Rollins singles win on court four. The junior has now won three straight singles matches over the past two weeks after her 6-1, 6-3 victory. The Tars were unable to secure any more singles points, falling on courts three, five and six. Both
Polina Vlasova and
Amina Abdulloeva gave great efforts, winning at least four games in both sets of their matches, but each fell short, losing 6-4, 6-4 and 6-4, 7-5, respectively.
Â
The Tars are back in action on Monday, returning to the USTA National Collegiate Campus for a bout with Franklin Pierce University. The non-conference match will begin at 2:00pm.
