Fighting Knights Best Tars in Tight SSC Opener

BOCA RATON, FLA. (November 22, 2025) – Rollins women's basketball fell in a tight conference matchup on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 63–58 decision on the road to Lynn.
Grace Craig opened the afternoon with back-to-back buckets to give the Tars the early edge. Lynn answered with a small run of its own, but three-point shooting kept Rollins within striking distance, as Zai Mitchell and Ellie Thompson each connected from deep. The Fighting Knights stretched the lead to eight before the Tars closed the quarter on a surge, drilling three straight threes via Claire Erickson and from Tara Murray, to take a 19–18 advantage after one.
Lynn reclaimed the lead to start the second, but Thompson and Victoria Escribano each scored in the paint to pull Rollins back within a possession. With the Fighting Knights continuing to find offense, Craig traded baskets to keep the margin tight. In the final seconds of the half, Faith Newton drove for her first points of the day, finishing at the buzzer to make it a one-possession game at the break.
The momentum shifted toward Lynn to open the third, as the Fighting Knights put together an 8–2 run. Newton stopped the bleeding with a three to cut the deficit to five, but another Lynn push extended the margin to double digits for the first time. Rollins responded with baskets from Elaina Kline-Ruminski and Erickson to bring the game back under ten heading into the fourth.
Mitchell opened the final frame with a jumper that sparked a Tars comeback, followed by five straight points from Craig to pull Rollins within two. Lynn countered with another run, but McKenna Murphy and Mitchell delivered tough finishes to keep the Tars within reach entering the final minutes. A late three from Kline-Ruminski narrowed the gap again, but the Fighting Knights held steady down the stretch to secure the win.
Craig led the Tars with a standout 16-point, nine-rebound effort, while Erickson added 10 of her own. Escribano made a strong impact on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds. Offensively, Rollins played a clean game, shooting 34% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.
Rollins moves to 2–1 on the season and 0–1 in SSC play as Lynn improves to 3-1 (1-0 SSC). The Tars return home on Monday, Nov. 24, for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the University of Puerto Rico–Bayamon inside Warden Arena.
