Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tars Soar Past Eagles

Rollins defeated Fort Lauderdale 93-60 on Wednesday night

WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 19, 2025) - Men's basketball took advantage of their hot shooting to cruise to a 93-60 win over visiting Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday. The Tars now stand at 2-1 on the year.

Rollins jumped out to a 5-0 lead early on a Marshall Klug three and a layup from Jah Nze. However, Fort Lauderdale rattled off six straight to claim their first and only lead of the game. On the ensuing possession, Klug had a tip in off a miss, followed by a baby hook from Ryan Renfro to take a 9-6 lead.

The Tars continued to dominate the paint, scoring on layups and putbacks seemingly at will. When the Eagles switched their defense up to crash the middle, Rollins was able to adjust nicely as Nze knocked down a pair of threes halfway through the first to make the score 25-12.

Fort Lauderdale clawed back slowly, and cut the lead to five, but again, the three-point shot kept Rollins in front. Klug and Omar Figueroa connected on back-to-back possessions, giving Rollins a double-digit lead again. On defense, they held the Eagles without a point for more than five minutes near the end of the half, and took a 48-28 lead into halftime.

Rollins shot an impressive 20-31 (65%) from the floor in the first half, including 6-14 (43%) from three.

The second half played out much the same way as Rollins was able to set up their offense, and also get multiple reserves involved off the bench. Freshman Jackson Gaffney provided a spark, showcasing impressive ballhandling and a soft finish around the rim.

As the game got out of hand, the whistles seemed to increase. A total of 34 fouls were called in the game.

By the final buzzer, Rollins ha captured a 93-60 win. They ended the night with a 58.6 shooting percentage and were 13-27 (48%) from three. Five players hit double figures, including 17 from each of Figueroa and Klug. Mayson Quartlebaum collected eight points and ten rebounds of the bench, and had a pair of thunderous dunks on the night.
