Tars Earn Draw Against #22 Eagles

Rollins and Embry-Riddle played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 25, 2025) - Women's soccer earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against #22 Embry-Riddle on Saturday night. The Tars now stand at 5-5-3, 1-4-3 SSC on the year while the Eagles remain unbeaten at 6-0-7, 4-0-4 SSC.

The low-scoring affair saw the Tars come out with a side of aggression, putting a pair of shots on goal against Eagles keeper Stella Roane. She stopped the first two attempts, but Emma Griner's rocket, off a feed from Lexie Cooper, found the net to put Rollins up in the 22nd minute.

Embry-Riddle only managed one shot on target in the first half, and it was stopped by Lauren Mehos. The tars took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Only ten minutes into the second period, the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box by Gabby Mellett. Lauryn Mateo was chosen for the strike, and came through for the home team, beating Mehos to tie the game.

Embry-Riddle had a prime chance to take the lead in the 63rd minute, but a shot from Anna Marisa Lara deflected off the crossbar.

Alayna Townsend put two shots on goal in the remainder of the game, but could not work past Roane. Meanwhile, the Eagles only had one more shot that was close, but again Mehos came through, leading to the 1-1 final.

The Rollins defense was phenomenal in this one. They saw 12 shots head towards the goal, but only three were on target. They also defended eight corner kicks in the game.

Next up for Rollins is a home match against Saint Leo on Wednesday, October 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
