West Palm Beach, Fla. – Rollins fell to Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday evening in straight sets (17–25, 19–25, 15–25).
The Sailfish opened strong in the first set, scoring the first five points before Rollins settled in. Emma Gongora made her presence felt, recording her first kill of the season and helping the Tars close within two. Gongora's serving run helped narrow the gap even further, but a pair of late PBA runs secured the opening frame for the hosts. Rollins struck first in the second, riding early momentum from Marta Tsaneva and Vivian Scuteri to take a brief lead. Palm Beach Atlantic rallied midway through the set, flipping the score and holding on to extend the match to 2–0. The third set remained competitive early, but a late surge from the Sailfish proved enough to finish the sweep.
Tsaneva led the Rollins offense with nine kills, while Gongora and Makayla Moran added six apiece. From the service line, Tawnee Shaw provided a spark with two aces, and Tsaneva and Scuteri each contributed four block assists, with Scuteri adding a solo.
With the loss, Rollins moves to 13–10 overall and 2–8 in SSC play, while Palm Beach Atlantic improves to 16–5 (6–4 SSC). The Tars will look to bounce back quickly, traveling to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, Oct. 25, for a 4 p.m. matchup against Nova Southeastern.
