MELBOURNE, Fla. (January 21, 2025) – The Sunshine State Conference announced the 2024 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll on Friday, with the Tars picked to finish third behind defending conference champion Tampa and Florida Southern.

With 49 points and seven first-place votes in the poll, a second consecutive regular-season championship is anticipated for the Spartans. Coaches picked Florida Southern as the top contender to the Spartans in 2025, with 40 points and the final first-place vote. Rollins follows in third place with 38 points, while Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle close out the top five with 34 and 22 points, respectively. Saint Leo (20 points), Lynn (15 points), and Palm Beach Atlantic (7 points) hold positions six through eight in the preseason poll.
The Tars finished the 2024 campaign at 12-4 overall, falling to the Spartans in the SSC Championship game. Rollins was ranked ninth in the final USILA Coaches' Poll. The Tars lost four (

Shahé Katchadurian,
Benjamin Kopen,
Grant Hansen) of their 10 All-SSC selections from a year ago, returning first-teamers
Charlie Metz and
Evan Tessler, along with second-teamers
Frankie Hapney and
Logan Myers, as well as third-teamers
Jack Johnstone and
Sam Mattson.
The Tars' season begins on Friday, February 7, when they travel to Belmont, North Carolina for a contest at Belmont Abbey. Faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
