Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tars Blank Sharks

Rollins defeated Nova Southeastern 2-0 on Saturday night

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 7, 2024) - Women's soccer continued their perfect start to the season defeating Nova Southeastern with their second consecutive 2-0 win on Saturday evening. The Tars now stand at 2-0, while the Sharks drop to 0-2.

Most of the first half was spent trading possessions and playing tight defense as neither team could manage a great look at the goal. Following a couple of late substitutions, the Tars were able to put pressure on the Shark defense, breaking through in the final minute.

After moving the ball past the midline, it was sent to the top of the box. Gabby Boyd was able to control, deke a defender, and blast a shot with her left foot past the Shark keeper to make it 1-0 with 36 seconds on the clock.

Following the break, Rollins maintained their attack, putting two shots on goal in the first four minutes. Following a defensive stop, Blaire Pressley sent a ball down the left sideline. Kayla Park took off like a rocket, not only stopping the ball before it crossed the baseline, but also juking her defender, giving her a straight line to the goal. As she sent the ball towards the net, Boyd crashed as a decoy, but allowed the ball to go past, and it ended up in the net for the Tars' second goal of the game.

With the comfortable lead, Rollins focused on defense for the remainder of the game, and not allow anything close to a clean look for the Sharks in the final 25 minutes.

Ella Henderson once again was perfect in goal, stopping all three shots that were on target.

Next up for the Tars is a road match at Georgia Southwestern on Thursday, September 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
