MELBOURNE, Fla. (Sept. 24, 2024) – The Rollins volleyball team lost its conference opener on Tuesday at Florida Tech, 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-20), falling to 9-3 overall and 0-1 in SSC play. With the win, the Panthers moved to 7-3, 1-0 in conference matches.
Lana Gerard led all players with 15 kills while
Adriana Lopez had a match-best 13 digs.
Jenna Garza led the Tars with 13 assists and added five digs and two service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- Rollins fell behind 9-2 early and couldn't string together enough points to threaten the Panthers as Florida Tech took the first set, 25-15.
Set Two
- Set two saw Florida Tech use a 9-3 run to take a 12-6 advantage, though the Tars were able to chip away at the deficit and get within three points at 17-14.
- The Panthers extended their lead from there as they closed out the set with a 25-17 win.
Set Three
- Rollins was able to use a 6-1 burst early in the third to take a 9-7 lead, but FT answered back a short while later with a 6-0 spurt to retake the lead and push it to 15-11.
- The Blue and Gold were only able to win consecutive points one more time as Florida Tech maintained its lead as it won the frame, 25-20, completing the 3-0 sweep.

The Tars will return home on Friday, September 27 to host Nova Southeastern at 7 p.m.
