DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (September 18, 2024) – The Rollins women's soccer team fell to Embry-Riddle in a non-conference match on the road Wednesday night, 1-0. The loss moves the Tars to 3-1-1 overall, while the Eagles improve to 3-2 on the year.
Rollins outshot the Eagles 16-10, putting eight shots on frame compared to ERAU's three. The Tars also earned more corners than Embry-Riddle, 7-2.
Emma Griner led all players with six shots while
Lizzie Hill posted a game-high four shots on goal.
Lauren Mehos made two saves in goal for the Tars, dropping her season record to 0-1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half
- Mehos was tested early, being required to make a pair of saves in the first 10 minutes of the contest.
- The Tars would clamp down defensively after that, preventing Embry-Riddle from putting a shot on goal until late in the second half.
- Offensively, Rollins put the pressure on the Eagles, attempting seven shots in the first half, five of which were on frame.
- ERAU's goalkeeper kept the Tars off the scoreboard and the teams went into the halftime break scoreless.
Second Half
- Rollins continued to press in the second half, taking nine shots in the first 23:02 of the period, but the Tars could not find the back of the net.
- Embry-Riddle's first shot on goal in over 70 minutes of play came from a corner kick in the 84th minute, with Ida Zetterberg putting home a goal on a corner from Berglind Thrastardot, which proved to be the only tally of the game for either team.
