Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tars Blast Buccaneers

Rollins defeated Barry 3-1 on Saturday night

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 28, 2024) - Women's soccer used a dominating first half to earn a 3-1 victory over the visiting Barry Buccaneers on Saturday. The Tars now stand at 4-1-1 (1-0 SSC) on the year. The Bucs fall to 4-2-0, 1-1 SSC.

Rollins absolutely controlled the first half in every fashion, from time of possession (69%) to corner kicks (eight to one) to a whopping 17 shots compared to just one for Barry.

The first goal of the game came on a wild sequence that saw the Barry keep miss a punch on the ball, a failed clearance attempt from a second defender, and an easy tap in for Lizzie Hill for her second goal of the season.

About ten minutes later, Ally Shultz intercepted a lazy pass from the Buccaneers in their own zone. She worked around a defender and ripped a laser into the far corner to put Rollins up 2-0.

The final strike of the first half came from Peyton Massie in the 30th minute. After a Bucs defender weakly headed a ball out of the box, Massie came sprinting up from midfield to deliver a right-foot rocket past the keeper to make the 3-0 halftime score.

Barry turned up the pressure in the second half, putting four shots on goal. One of them ... a chip shot from Ella Wallfur Skiljic in the 80th minute ... provided the only goal for the Bucs on the night.

Six different Tars had at least one shot on goal. Lauren Mehos was perfect in her 71 minutes of goal time, recording two saves.

Next up for the Tars is a home match on Wednesday, October 2 against Tampa. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
