Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tars Soar Past Eagles

Rollins defeated Embry-Riddle 3-0 on Wednesday evening

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 18, 2024) - Men's soccer got back to their winning ways on Wednesday, posting a 3-0 shutout of the Embry-Riddle Eagles in a non-SSC matchup. The Tars move to 2-2-0 on the year, while the Eagles fall to 2-2-1.

Rollins controlled much of the first half with an aggressive play style that kept the ball on their side of the field for the majority of the opening period. This included outshooting the Eagles, 6-3.

The first strike came at the 28-minute mark. Jordan Proulx found an open lane down the sideline, and sent a cross that made it's way all the way to the far side of the box. Finlay Prain collected the pass, and fired a shot off the Eagles' keeper and into the net for his second goal of the year.

Eleven minutes later, Rollins found the net again. Jorge Lameiras showed immaculate control and footwork, moving the ball around a defender in the corner. As he pressed towards the goal, he flipped a pass to Mikkel Fodstad at the last second. The grad transfer was able to power the ball past Salvatore della Valle for his first goal as a Tar.

The second half saw both teams become more bellicose as the referee's whistle received a work out. A total of 15 fouls were called, and six yellow cards were handed out.

Following one of Embry-Riddle's fouls, the Tars received a free kick from about 25 yards out. Pedro Lameiras lined it up and struck an absolute beauty that curled around the four-man wall and snuck in the net for the final brace of the game.

The final excitement of the match came in the 81 st minute when Proulx received two yellow cards in one minute, forcing the Tars to play a man down for the final ten minutes.

Jabari Gray saw eleven shots come his way, saving all four that were on target to earn the win.  It was his first clean sheet as a Tar.

Rollins will have the weekend off before returning to action at home on Wednesday, September 25 when they host the Florida Tech Panthers. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
