Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tars Draw with Lakers

Rollins and Clayton State played to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon

MORROW, Ga. (September 15, 2024) - Women's soccer remains unbeaten on the season following a 1-1 draw with the Clayton State Lakers on Sunday. The Tars now stand at 3-0-1 on the season, while the Lakers move to 3-0-1 as well.

Lauren Mehos drew the start in goal for Rollins, her first of the year. She was tested early, seeing two shots come her way in the first three minutes of the game. The Tars followed with a couple of chances, but both were saved by Trinity Chastain.

The aggression from the Lakers paid off in the sixth minute when Amiah Sprunger-Hightower won the one-on-one battle with Mehos and found the net for the early lead.

The remainder of the half slowed down as each team managed just one more shot on goal each.

Rollins turned up the heat in the second half, testing Chastain in goal. She stood strong until the 78th minute. Following a goal kick, Kayla Park sent a ball a long way down the left sideline. Gabby Boyd chased it down, faked out a defender, and then went top bin from the baseline for the beautiful equalizer.

The final twelve minutes passed without another attempt on target as the two teams played to a draw.

The Tars' next contest will be at Emrby-Riddle on Wednesday, September 18 in a non-SSC matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm from Daytona.
