No. 6 Tars Celebrate Senior Day with 13-6 Win

Rollins jumped out to a 12-1 lead in Saturday's victory

WINTER PARK, Florida (April 13, 2024) – The No. 6 Rollins men's lacrosse team recorded its fourth straight win on Saturday, defeating visiting Palm Beach Atlantic on Senior Day, 13-6. The Tars are now 11-2 overall, 5-1 in conference play, while the Sailfish drop to 5-5, 1-5 in SSC games.
 
Jack Johnstone led all players with four goals, while Mikey Berkman tallied four assists. Brady Greco was 8-for-8 in faceoffs with a game-high six ground balls, and Trevor Dorfman (1-0) earned the win, making seven saves on 12 shots in 33:03 of action.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Sam Mattson opened the scoring just over nine minutes into the contest, with Johnstone, Justin White, Sean Caracciolo, and Frankie Hapney all following with goals of their own.
  • Mattson capped the scoring in the first quarter with his second of the game in the final minute, putting Rollins up 6-0 after 15 minutes of play.
Second Quarter
  • Jarred Flahive notched his first career goal at the 6:03 mark of the second and Johnstone backed that up with his second of the game to push the lead to 8-0.
  • After PBA got on the board with 4:01 to go in the half, Johnstone scored his third to give the Tars a 9-1 halftime lead.
Third Quarter
  • Johnstone netted his fourth of the day to open the scoring in the second half, with Flahive following up with his second career goal and second of the day.
  • Peter Buell, Jr. made it 12-1 before a late PBA goal cut the lead to 10 (12-2) after three quarters.
Fourth Quarter
  • Logan Myers scored 35 seconds into the fourth, which would prove to be the final Rollins goal of the day.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic scored three goals in the fourth to account for the 13-6 final score.
 
UP NEXT:
The Tars will close out the regular season on Wednesday, April 17, with a road contest at Saint Leo at 7 p.m.
