WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 4, 2024) – The Rollins women's tennis team pulled off an upset on Monday evening, defeating No. 18 Charleston (WV) by a score of 4-2. The Tars are now 3-4 on the year, while the Golden Eagles fall to 5-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- Charleston snagged the doubles point with wins in all three matches, giving the visitors an early 1-0 lead.
Singles
- Nancy Liu quickly tied things up with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, and Nina Mitrofanova put Rollins ahead with a 6-2, 7-5 victory on court five.
- After the Golden Eagles tied it with a win on court four, Erin Yaroshuk put the Tars a point away from winning with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) triumph at No. 6 singles.
- Polina Vlasova was able to secure the clinching point with a hard-fought 6-0, 1-6, 7-5 win on court one.
- Katie Groves was one game away from winning on court three, with her match being left abandoned at 6-7 (3), 6-3, 5-0 when the Tars clinched the overall contest.
