INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 16, 2024) – The No. 2 Rollins men's lacrosse team took its first loss of 2024 on Saturday, falling to 10th-ranked Indianapolis on the road, 11-7. The Tars are now 6-1 on the year, while the Greyhounds improve to 7-2.
Mikey Berkman had a game-high four points with two goals and two assists to go along with a ground ball and a caused turnover, while
Jack Johnstone tallied two goals and two ground balls.
Evan Tessler had a game-leading five caused turnovers as well as a team-leading five ground balls, and
Shahé Katchadurian (6-1) stopped 14 of the 25 shots he faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- The Greyhounds got off to a fast start, scoring 17 seconds into the game.
- After another UIndy goal, Sean Caracciolo got the Tars on the board with 1:14 left in the first quarter.
Second Quarter
- Indianapolis tallied the first two goals of the second to go up 4-1 before Grant Hansen found the back of the net at the 8:11 mark.
- The home team tacked on three more goals in the quarter, with Johnstone getting his first of the game as well, making it a 7-3 game at the half.
Third Quarter
- Rollins bounced back in the third, outscoring UIndy 4-0 in the frame.
- Johnstone got it going just over a minute into the period, with Berkman putting one home at the 6:25 mark to make it 7-5.
- Sam Mattson scored a man-up goal with 49 seconds left in the quarter and Berkman scored his second with just six ticks left, tying the game at seven.
Fourth Quarter
- The Greyhounds rallied in the fourth, outscoring Rollins 4-0 to take the 11-7 win.
