WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 16, 2024) – The Rollins volleyball team came up short in a five-set thriller on Saturday as visiting Palm Beach Atlantic spoiled the Senior Day festivities with a 3-2 win (13-25, 25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 15-13). The Tars are now 13-16 overall and 4-14 in SSC play, while the Sailfish go to 7-20 overall, 1-16 in conference matches.

Lana Gerard led the Tars with 19 kills and 19 digs, while Adriana Lopez matched her with 19 digs as well. Jadyn Troutman contributed 16 kills and four blocks and Molly Norris added 10 kills. Natalie Horsley led all players with 57 assists to go along with nine digs.

Set Two

Set Three
  • In the third frame, the visitors again started strong, opening up a 9-2 edge.
  • Rollins got back to within two at 11-9, but before long the Sailfish had extended the margin once again, this time upping it to 20-11.
  • Three straight kills from Troutman closed the gap to 23-19, but PBA held on for a 25-20 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set Four
  • Set four featured 14 ties and seven lead changes, with neither side building a lead larger than two points.
  • Rollins used a 3-0 run to take a 16-14 lead, but Palm Beach Atlantic went on a 3-0 spurt to retake the lead, 17-16.
  • Another 3-0 run gave the Sailfish a 22-20 advantage, but the Tars were able to rally late, winning the final four points of the frame to win it, 25-23, forcing a fifth set.
Set Five
  • In set five, Rollins jumped out to a 6-2 lead, but PBA bounced back and pulled ahead 11-10 on the strength of a 6-1 burst.
  • A block from Norris and Makayla Moran tied it at 11 and Gerard put down a kill to push the Blue and Gold back in front, 12-11.
