Coach Tom Klusman to Take Leave of Absence

Kevin Hogan will step into interim head coach role

WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 4, 2024) - Men's Basketball head coach Tom Klusman will be taking a medical leave of absence for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Coach Klusman has been the cornerstone of our basketball program for over four decades, leading our teams with unparalleled dedication and integrity.

Since joining Rollins College as a standout guard in 1972, Coach Klusman has made significant contributions both on and off the court. Under his leadership, the Tars have achieved numerous milestones, including seven Sunshine State Conference regular season championships, four SSC Tournament titles, and eight NCAA Division II postseason bids. His career record of 755-489 ranks him among the top coaches in NCAA Division II history.

During Coach Klusman's absence, assistant coach Kevin Hogan will serve as the interim head coach. Coach Hogan, a former standout guard for the Tars, has been an integral part of the coaching staff since 2018. He brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our program's values and goals. As a player, Hogan was part of two Sunshine State Conference regular season championship teams and won the 2006 SSC Tournament. He is currently 28th on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,295 career points, and is second for made three-pointers (270).

"Coach Klusman has been the heart and soul of Rollins College Men's Basketball for over forty years. His unwavering commitment to our student-athletes and his passion for the game have left an indelible mark on our program. We fully support Tom during this time, and wish him a speedy recovery," said Rollins Associate Vice President of Athletics, Pennie Parker. "We are confident that under Kevin Hogan's leadership, our team will continue to uphold the high standards of excellence that Tom has established."
