Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hill's Brace Pushes Tars Past Lions

Rollins defeated Saint Leo 1-0 on Wednesday night

SAINT LEO, Fla. (October 30, 2024) - Women's soccer found their way back into the win column on Wednesday, earning a 1-0 win over the Saint Leo Lions on the road. With the win, the Tars improve to 8-3-1 (5-2 SSC) while the Lions drop to 7-4-3 (3-3-1).

The match was mostly a defensive slugfest as the two teams limited chances for their opponent. The only goal of the game came in the 22nd minute.

Following a defensive stand by the Tars, a Lauren Mehos punt landed near midfield. After bouncing off a couple players, Briyah Drayton came away with it, and pushed ahead. As the defense collapsed on her, she shot a pss to her left to a streaking Lizzie Hill. Hill did not hesitate, and ripped a perfect shot past the diving keeper for her third of the season.

Mehos did not have to do much in goal, though she did not manage two saves on the Lions' only two on-target attempts. The backline of the Rollins defense was phenomenal, creating havoc and disrupting the Saint Leo offense all night long.

Hill was credited with eight shots and six on goal in the match. Lexie Cooper was the only other Rollins player with a registered shot.

Rollins now stands at #2 in the SSC standings with two games to play in the regular season. Their next matchup is on Saturday when they face the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in West Palm Beach. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
