WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (November 2, 2024) - Women's soccer suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Palm Beach Altantic Sailfish, falling 1-0 on Saturday evening. With the loss, Rollins falls to 8-4-1 (5-3 SSC) while the Sailfish improve to 6-7-2 (2-6-1 SSC).
Rollins had the advantage in the first half, putting four shots on goal to Palm Beach Atlantic's three, but all seven strikes were stopped by Taylor Jackson and
Lauren Mehos. Rollins also had a 5-0 advantage on corner kicks, but could not convert.Â
The Tars stayed aggressive in the second half with three shots in the first nine minutes, but nothing come of them.Â
The only goal of the night came in the 61st minute when Marina Leal made her way around a pair of Rollins defenders with some slick dribbling, and unleashed a rocket past Mehos to put the Sailfish ahead 1-0.Â
Briyah Drayton gave the Tars one final chance, putting two shots on target in the final two minutes of play, but both were stopped, leading to the 1-0 final.Â
A win would have locked Rollins in to the #2 seed for the upcoming SSC tournament, but now they will have to win against Florida Southern on Wednesday, and also hope that Nova Southeastern loses one of their final two games, Rollins will kickoff in Lakeland on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 pm.Â
