Liu and Taibi Capture Consolation Doubles at ITA South Regional

Six Tars competed at three-day event in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. (October 2, 2024) - Women's tennis left the ITA South Regional on a high note as Nancy Liu and Amina Taibi captured the consolation doubles bracket on Wednesday morning. Their victory capped a four-day event hosted by Florida Southern.

The duo's journey began on Sunday when they fell in their opening round matchup against Embry-Riddle, 8-7 (3). This placed them in the consolation bracket, where they quickly righted the ship. On Monday, Liu/Taibi made quick work of Pager/Kroemer (Spring Hill), winning 8-1. Their next match was on Tuesday morning as they faced off against Panelver/Simes of Lee. This match was a slugfest, with the Tars coming out on top, 8-7 (3). In the semifinal later that afternoon, the duo managed to escape Ripolles/Azarraga (Mississippi College) 8-6. That win set the stage for a berth in the consolation final on Wednesday morning. The girls were ready to go with their 9am first serve, and easily moved past Axler/Charvatova (Florida Southern) 8-1 to capture the bracket.

Other Rollins teams in action included Nina Mitrofanova/Amina Abdulloeva and Sydney Eckstein/Milla Falster
