Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tars Fall to Top-Ranked Knights

Lynn defeated Rollins 2-1 on Saturday evening

BOCA RATON, Fla. (October 19, 2024) - Men's soccer took an early lead, but could not hang on against the top-ranked team in the country, Lynn. The Tars fell to the Fighting Knights 2-1 on Saturday, dropping their season record to 4-5 (2-3 SSC) while Lynn remains undefeated at 9-0-1 (5-0-1 SSC).

It took less than five minutes for Rollins to get on the board against the top defensive team in the conference. After a ball was sent into the Lynn side of the field, Mikkel Fodstad outworked his defender, earning a free lane to the goal. After a touch, he blasted home his sixth goal of the season for the lead.

Lynn was able to equalize moments later. After lining up a corner kick, the ball was pinballing around the box. Eventually, it found its way to Anton Mand, who was able to jump-kick the ball past Jabari Gray. The Rollins defenders all had their hands up looking for an offisde, but it was not granted by the officials.

Six minutes later, the Knights were able to patiently work a ball past the Tar defense, eventually finding a hole in the back line. Luan Barroso Rennstich drove a low liner past Gray to give Lynn a 2-1 lead in the 19th minute.

The remainder of the game would go scoreless, keeping Lynn undefeated. The Knights outshot Rollins 18-8, including 7-3 on shots on goal. Gray tallied five saves in goal for Rollins.

Next up for the Tars is a home match against Florida Southern on Wednesday, October 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
