No. 24 Rollins Takes Tri-Meet Victory

The Tars took home six event wins on Friday

WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 5, 2024) – The 24th-ranked Rollins men's swimming team kicked off 2024 with a pair of wins on Friday, defeating No. 12 Oklahoma Christian (134-119) and NAIA No. 23 Arizona Christian (202-30) in a tri-meet at the Alfond Pool.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Luke Dinges, Tully Njoroge, Michael Tucker, and William Slowey kicked things off with a first-place time of 1:33.55 in the 200-yard medley relay.
  • Keanu Garnier-Chan took third in the 1650-yard freestyle, the first individual event of the day, with a time of 17:37.44.
  • Seth Basinger touched the wall first in 1:44.34 to win the 200-yard freestyle.
  • Skylar Murphy was second in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking a 52.81.
  • Slowey took second in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 56.22.
  • Dinges added an individual win to his ledger with a dominant performance in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing more than 11 seconds ahead of the field in 1:51.32.
  • Trey Carter and Tucker finished tied for second in the 50-yard freestyle, each clocking a time of 21.83.
  • Carter came back after the break to earn a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 48.17.
  • Nicholas Bonta was second to finish in the 200-yard backstroke, recording a time of 1:57.04.
  • Njoroge placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.73.
  • Basinger grabbed second place in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:46.24.
  • Dinges got his third win of the day, second individually, with a 50.70 in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Slowey brought home the sixth win of the meet for Rollins, winning the 200-yard individual medley in 1:54.70.
  • The team of Basinger, Carter, Dinges, and Slowey wrapped up the meet with a second-place time of 1:26.01 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
