FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (January 27, 2024) - Men's basketball came up just short in their game against the #6 Nova Southeastern Sharks (15-2, 9-2 SSC). The Tars fall to 5-13 on the year with a 2-9 mark in conference play.
Dylan Wolle hammered home a dunk off a feed from
Kyle Marion to open the scoring for Rollins on their first possession. Unfortunately, they would go cold from there, experiencing a scoreless drought of more than four minutes before
Matheus Silveira snapped the streak with a layup. At that point, it was 12-4 Nova, and the points would continue to roll in.
Sergey Grishaev was a bright spot in the first half, scoring seven straight for Rollins at one point. His layup at the 13:17 mark brought Rollins within seven at 18-11, but they would not get any closer. By the eight-minute media timeout, it was 32-16, and at halftime, it was 58-28.
Cade Long was strong in the second half, scoring nine while Grishaev added eight of his team-high twenty in the second period. Unfortunately, the offensive show continued for the home team, and they would walk home with the win.
Grishaev posted a double-double, adding thirteen rebounds to his point total. Wolle added twelve and seven for the Tars.
Kyle Marion dished out a team-high five assists. Six Nova players scored in double digits, led by Eli Allen's 15.
Rollins will return home for a Tuesday night matchup with the Florida Tech Panthers. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm on January 30 from Winter Park.
