MELBOURNE, Fla. (Sept. 30, 2023) – The Rollins women's swimming team dropped a close decision on Saturday, falling to Florida Tech 90-79 in the season opener for both squads.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The team of Leora Rose, Abigayle Wood, Lauren Diehl, and Dylan Beeson took second in the opening event, the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:52.15.
- Alonna Clark (10:50.80) and Elliot Fox (11:13.78) earned the top two spots in the day's first individual event, the 1000-yard freestyle.
- Danielle Boland took home third in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:02.29.
- Wood (1:08.34) and Megan Furuichi (1:10.91) placed second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Diehl (2:12.03) and Audrey Perry (2:17.18) gave the Tars another 1-2 finish, this time in the 200-yard butterfly.
- Amelia Kondal added another event win for Rollins as she finished first in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.06, while Lizzie Sander was third in 25.24.
- In the very next event, Kondal again placed first, winning the 100-yard freestyle in 54.50.
- Mackenzie Adams capped the day with a second-place time of 2:15.37 in the 200-yard backstroke.

The Tars will be back in the pool next Saturday, Oct. 7, when they travel to Ave Maria to face the Gyrenes in an 11 a.m. meet.
