MELBOURNE, Fla. (Sept. 30, 2023) – The Rollins men's swimming team dropped its season opener on Saturday, falling to Florida Tech on the road, 86-64. The Tars are now 0-1 on the year, while the Panthers go to 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The quartet of Sky Murphy, William Slowey, Luke Dinges, and Trey Carter took third in the opening event, the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:33.16.
- Andrew Boles (9:58.57) and Keanu Garnier-Chan (10:02.57) finished 1-2 in the day's first individual event, the 1000-yard freestyle.
- Rollins made it two straight 1-2 finishes when Seth Basinger (1:43.70) and Carter (1:45.19) accomplished the same feat in the 200-yard freestyle.
- Murphy (53.51) and Jaswanth Yannam (54.31) took second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke.
- Slowey added a third event win for the Tars when he won the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.68, with teammate Tully Njoroge also placing third in the race in 57.72.
- Dinges claimed second place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:50.37.
- Basinger came back to earn a runner-up result with a time of 47.85 in the 100-yard freestyle, the final event of the day.
UP NEXT:
The Tars will be back in the pool next Saturday, Oct. 7, when they travel to Ave Maria to face the Gyrenes in an 11 a.m. meet.
