DAYTONA, Fla. (September 27, 2023) - For the second time in a week, the #8 ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles found their way past the Rollins Tars. With the loss, the Tars run even on the year with a 3-3-3 record, including 1-1-1 in SSC matchups. The Eagles remain unbeaten with a record of 6-0-2 and 3-0-0 in SSC play.
Things could not have started any better for Embry-Riddle as they scored in the third minute on Savannah Shehan's first goal of the year. A few minutes later, Lauryn Mateo, who also scored against Rollins last week, snuck one by
Lauren Mehos to put the Eagles up 2-0.
Embry-Riddle would add two more goals in the first half, going up 4-0.
Just seconds before the end of the first half, Rollins was able to find their way on to the scoreboard when
Kayla Park found an open
Ally Shultz, who was able to score just 37 seconds before the horn to make it 4-1.
The second half was a scoreless draw as Rollins could not find a gap in the Embry-Riddle defense.
Rollins collected three yellows in the match, their highest total of the season. They put eight shots on goal, but Embry-Riddle keeper Oona Jokinen saved seven of the attempts.
The Tars are off this weekend, and will travel to Lynn for their next match netx Wednesday, October 4th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
