Rollins Captures Road Win at Lynn

The Tars defeated the Fighting Knights 3-1 on Wednesday

BOCA RATON, Fla. (October 4, 2023) - The Rollins Tars find themselves back on the right side of .500 after a nice road win at Lynn on Wednesday, winning 3-1. Rollins now stands at 4-3-3 on the year with a 2-1-1 record in SSC play. The Knights fall to 3-6-1, 0-4 SSC.

The tone was set early when Kayla Park found teammate Lexie Cooper with a gorgeous pass from the baseline to put Rollins up 1-0 just four minutes into the game. The goal was Cooper's third of the year.

Lynn tried to answer back roughly ten minutes later, but Lauren Mehos saved the shot. Minutes after, the Tars struck again. This time, Rollins put the pressure on Lynn on their side of the field. After Park stole the ball from a defender, she found Peyton Massie at the top of the box. She instantly moved the ball to a streaking Ryland McGratty who was able to rip a laser to the left side of the net for a goal.

The Fighting Knights did answer back late. In the 79th minute, Brigitta Pulins was fed a perfect through ball from Francesca Brito, easily depositing it in the net to cut the lead to one.

Their joy would be short-lived however, as just ninety seconds later, Park was given a penalty kick opportunity. Her shot froze the Lynn keeper, who did not even move when the ball was kicked. Park's sixth of the year would make the final of 3-1.

Mehos played well in goal, stopping four shots. Park was involved in all three goals, with two assists and her own goal.

Next up for Rollins is a home match against Florida Southern on Saturday, October 7. Kickoff from Cahall-Sandspur Field is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
