Bucs Plunder Tars Chances for SSC Title

#4 Barry defeated #13 Rollins 4-2 on Friday morning

BRADENTON, Fla. (April 21, 2023) - Rollins saw their hopes for an SSC title dashed on Friday as they fell to the #4 ranked Barry Buccaneers by a score of 4-2. Rollins now stands at 16-6 on the season.

The day could not have started any better for the Tars as they captured the doubles point. The #11 duo of Efe Comu/Luke Quaynor put together a solid effort in taking down #6 Alejandro Gallego/Arnau Rodriguez, 6-4. On court two, Mikkel Baumann/Guillermo Castaneda also secured a win with an identical 6-4 score against Alessandro Giuliato/Adam Lynch. With the point clinched, court three was unfinished.

Barry bounced back on the singles courts, taking down number five (David Rieme over Moritz Stenzer, 6-1, 6-3) and number four (Alessio Demichelis over Richard Stoiberer, 6-2, 6-1). The Tars knotted the score back at two when Luke Quaynor proved victorious on court two, knocking out the #49 ranked Giuliato, 6-4, 6-1.

Unfortunately for the Tars, the Bucs won the next two singles courts. In the feature match on number one, #30 Alejandro Gallego bested #58 Comu 6-3, 6-4. The match was then clinched on six when Adam Lynch fought past Charlie Putrino, 7-5, 6-3. Court three between Castaneda and Rodriguez did not finish.

Rollins will play once more in the SSC tourney, facing Embry-Riddle in the third-place match on Saturday morning. First serve is scheduled for 9:00 AM from IMG Academy in Bradenton.
