Luke Quaynor started things off with a 6-0 sweep of #9 Matteo Feggi/Chris Fok Kow. Then on court two,
Mikkel Baumann/
Guillermo Castaneda survived a tough battle with Mario Garoz/Ryan Rajakar, 7-5. Court three was tied at 6-6, but did not finish due to the point being clinched.Â
Quaynor was the first to finish on singles, taking down Inaki Brown Simo on court two in 6-4, 6-2 fashion. Southern then made a run to tie things up, winning the match on court three that featured Garoz and Castaneda (6-3, 7-6(5)), and the match on court five between John Gidefjord and
Moritz Stenzer, 7-6 (4), 6-2.Â
Comu claimed a big win on the featured court in a back-and-forth with Fok Kow. The Turkish native ended up on top 6-4, 7-6 (3) to give Rollins a 3-2 advantage. It was short-lived as Elliott Altman and
Charlie Putrino went to a tiebreaker, with the Mocs escaping 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
That put the focus on court four in yet another match that required extra action.
Richard Stoiberer won the first set 7-6 (4), but Alex Fascio bounced back in convincing fashion with a 6-1 win in set two. In the third set, the freshman Stoiberer locked in and cruised to a 6-3 win to advance the Tars to the semi-finals.
