WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 8, 2023) – The Rollins women's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches on Wednesday with a 5-2 defeat of visiting Ferris State. The Tars are now 4-3 on the year, while the Bulldogs drop to 6-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- Milla Falster and Erin Yaroshuk got things started with a win on court three, knocking off Sophie Daavettila and Amelia Laverdiere, 6-2.
- The Tars clinched the doubles point after Natalie Collado Cordon and Maria McKay took care of Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer and Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer on court two, 6-3.
- Georgina Groth and Katie Groves held on for a 6-4 win on court one, besting Parker Nolan and Morgan Waller to give Rollins a clean sweep of the doubles matches.
Singles
- Groth took down Waller at number one singles, 6-2, 6-2, and McKay followed that with an identical 6-2, 6-2 win on court six over Moorea McNalley to make it 3-0 Tars.
- Polina Vlasova clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer on court three.
- After the Bulldogs got back-to-back points on courts five and four, Groves closed out the match with a come-from-behind win over Daavettila on court two, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.
