WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 8, 2023) – The Rollins women's lacrosse team earned its third consecutive win by 10-plus goals on Wednesday, easily handling visiting Concordia, St. Paul by a score of 19-6. The Tars are now 6-0 on the year, while CSP drops to 3-4.
Caroline Gastonguay racked up eight points on six goals and two assists to go along with two ground balls, while
Molly Mendes had four points on a goal and three assists.
Madison McGarry and
Abigail Cawley eached tallied two goals and an assist, while
Jorie Alf,
Holyn Trautwein, and
Lauren Noonan each contributed a pair of goals.
Courtney Martin led the Tars with four draw controls while
Grace Sweetak and
Julianna Gloth each tallied a game-high three ground balls.
Rachel Schlesinger (5-0) got the win, making one save while allowing two goals in the first half of play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- The Golden Bears got the first goal of the game 4:17 into the contest, but the Tars would score the next 11 goals to take control of the game.
- Caroline Gastonguay's first of the game came 1:39 after CSP's opening goal, and Trautwein followed that 1:29 later to give Rollins its first lead of the contest, 2-1.
- Cawley scored with 5:03 to go in the first, with Mendes netting her first of the game just 83 seconds later.
- McGarry put in the next two goals and Delanie Aberie scored with just five seconds left in the quarter to give the Tars a 7-1 lead after one period.
Second Quarter
- The offense didn't slow down in the second, as Caroline Gastonguay scored twice in the first 3:39 to build the lead to 9-1.
- Trautwein got her second of the game with 9:34 to go in the half and Caroline Gastonguay made it a 10-goal deficit with her fourth of the contest just 1:12 later.
- After the Golden Bears scored to make it 11-2, Alf found the back of the net to re-establish the 10-goal margin just 41 seconds later.
- Noonan notched the final tally of the first half, giving Rollins a comfortable 13-2 lead at the break.
Third Quarter
- Charlotte Gastonguay was the first to score in the second half, with Cawley not far behind, pushing the Tar lead to 15-2 just 3:19 into the third.
- The Golden Bears battled back, scoring three times in the final 10 minutes of the quarter, but a pair of Caroline Gastonguay markers kept the lead above 10, with Rollins heading to the fourth up 17-5.
Fourth Quarter
- Alf got her second of the game only nine ticks into the fourth, and after a CSP goal made it 18-6, Noonan got her second goal with just eight seconds left in the contest, giving the Tars a 19-6 win.

The Tars will be back at home on Saturday, March 11, when they host No. 17 Seton Hill. That game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start at Barker Family Stadium.
