Eighth-Ranked Tars Stymie Saints

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 4, 2023) – The eighth-ranked Rollins men's lacrosse team jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back, running away from Flagler for a 17-6 win. The Tars go to 4-0 on the season, while the Saints fall to 1-5.
 
Jack Johnstone tallied five points on three goals and two assists while also grabbing a ground ball and causing one turnover, while Brooks Rask tallied three goals and an assist. Justin White added three goals and Mikey Berkman chipped in with a goal and two assists. Shahé Katchadurian (4-0) got the win in goal, stopping 12 of the 14 shots he faced through 45 minutes of play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Johnstone opened the scoring 2:15 into the game and added his second goal just 45 seconds later.
  • White netted his first of the day to make it 3-0, and Johnstone completed his hat trick with 1:21 left in the quarter to put the Tars up 4-0.
Second Quarter
  • White scored again 1:39 into the second, with Zane Williams following with his first goal of the season just over a minute later.
  • The Saints got their first two goals of the season later in the quarter, with Rollins holding a 6-2 advantage at the half.
Third Quarter
  • White scored his third of the game to open the scoring in the third, followed by goals from Quin Timmerman V and Berkman just 40 seconds apart.
  • Samuel Hartmann and Rask then scored their first goals of the season in closing minutes of the quarter, extending the Tars' lead to 11-2.
Fourth Quarter
  • After Flagler scored twice in the first 1:17 of the fourth, Rask got his second goal to make it 12-4.
  • Kurt Rachau scored less than a minute after that, which was then followed by a Flagler goal to put the lead at 13-5.
  • Chad Bulera and Jack Lambert were the next two Tars to net their first goals of the season, pushing the lead to double-digits at 15-5 with 6:15 to play.
  • Flagler got one back, but Sean Carraciolo and Rask both scored in the last couple minutes of the game, giving the Tars a 17-6 victory.
